First: it is a state of mind. This is a very important point. It takes a desire to photograph something, something specific, that will make you successful. You have to want to shoot whatever it is, and you have to have something to say about it. Otherwise, it's, as you have discovered, difficult to find anything to shoot. And that is why it can be simple. Instead of going out looking and burning a lot of film, figure out what matters to you.
